Joint Forest Management on Care and Share Basis

A large number of local people have been included in the Joint Forest Management for the conservation and management of forests on care and share basis. The records available in the Ministry of Environment and Forests reveal that more than 237 lakh local people are members of 1,06,482 Joint Forest Management Committees (JFMCs) in the country. The state-wise detail of members of the JFMCs is given in annexure.

The entire adult population of the village are members of the JFM committees and hence all of them are local people only.
